To Switzerland and to Bern

Switzerland has three main airports: EuroAirport Basel-Mulhouse-Freiburg, Zürich airport and Geneva airport. Note that, although Bern has an airport, it services a very limited number of routes and in general is not suitable for traveling to Bern. From Basel, Zürich and Geneva airports direct public transport connections to Bern are available:

  • From EuroAirport Basel-Mulhouse-Freiburg take bus 50 to Basel central station. From there, trains IC6 and IC61 directly connect to Bern central station. The travel time is about 1 hour 15 minutes.
  • Zürich airport has its own trainstation, from which trains IC1 and IC8 directly connect to Bern central station. The travel time is about 1 hour 15 minutes.
  • Geneva airport also has its own trainstation, from which trains IR15 and IC1 directly connect to Bern central station. The travel time is about 2 hours.

Train tickets can be purchased at ticket machines on all stations, but also with a discount online when traveling outside rush hour. See https://www.sbb.ch/en/travelcards-and-tickets/buying-options.html for more information.

In Bern

From Bern central station, the Von Roll Auditorium is a 20 minutes walk away. The auditorium can also be reached by taking bus 101 from the central station and exiting at the stop "Güterbahnhof", or bus 12 from the central station to stop "Länggasse". The bus rides take about 10 minutes.

After checking in to your hotel, hostel or airbnb in Bern you will receive the so-called "Bern Ticket", which will let you use public transport for free in the Bern city area. This includes the red BernMobil buses and trams and the yellow PostAuto buses. On the day of your arrival, your reservation confirmation can be used as a transfer ticket from Bern central station to you accommodation.
